Justice select Committee Treaty Principles Bill Chairman James Meager makes an apology to Hobson’s Pledge for misinformation.

Political lobby group Hobson’s Pledge have received an apology from the Justice Select Committee for the incorrect public statements the Chair James Meager made about Hobson’s Pledge.

The Principal Clerk of the Justice Select Committee admitted and apologised that the comments made by Chairman James Meagher that Hobson’s Pledge had not responded to committee staff by the specified deadline were an error.

The Principal Clerk admits the statement was incorrect, based on advice provided to the chairperson was itself the result of a miscommunication which they take responsibility for.

James Meager also made an apology on the livestream later in the day.

Hobson’s Pledge, a leading voice in this debate, made a positive submission on behalf of thousands of its supporters. Representatives of Hobson’s Pledge in Wellington were only informed on Monday morning that they were not on the list of submitters.

A gracious arrangement with, Democracy Action which gave up its place on the list allowed Hobson’s Pledge to make it’s submission.
