No idea from the Greens on Parliamentary return for non binary MP

by Mike Bain- The Daily Examiner.

The Green Party has not confirmed when MP Benjamin Doyle will return to work after spending last week away from Parliament due to death threats following the deletion of social media posts.

Parliamentary security has been collaborating with police regarding these threats, which were linked to posts Doyle, who uses they/them pronouns, made on an Instagram account called “biblebeltbussy” prior to becoming an MP.

The posts were shared by figures such as deputy prime minister Winston Peters, prompting Peters to raise the possibility of a police investigation into the matter, including posts featuring Doyle’s child.

Green co-leader Chlöe Swarbrick called for Prime Minister Christopher Luxon to intervene and address Peters’ actions.

Although Doyle has not commented publicly about the posts or the subsequent scrutiny, the Green Party chose not to disclose Doyle’s whereabouts ahead of time given the circumstances.

Doyle joined Parliament in October, replacing Darleen Tana, who was dismissed due to allegations related to her husband’s business.

Police have yet to provide updates or confirm arrests regarding the investigation into threats made against Doyle.

Previously, Doyle used the Instagram handle @biblebeltbussy, which included posts utilizing language associated with the LGBTQI+ community, such as “bussy galore.”

Swarbrick has criticized Peters for allegedly spreading disinformation and stoking hostility toward the rainbow community.
